our story

From Hong Kong to Scotland

Two cities, one sky. She is there; I am here — but every day brings us closer.

Hong Kong

where I am — finishing my PhD

Scotland

where you are — your new home

YOU · IN SCOTLAND

A pharmacist healing her community, lifting heavier than last week, and unlocking the door to your very own home. Look how far you've come.

ME · IN HONG KONG

Finishing my PhD and thinking of you across the miles. One day soon, that plane below will be flying one way — and it'll be me on it.

US · SOMEDAY SOON

The distance is only a number on a ticket. My heart is already in Scotland — it moved in with you. The rest of me is on its way.

Until then, I'll love you across every mile.

the big moment

Make a Wish

Three candles, one birthday girl. Tap each flame to blow them out and open your letter…

The candles are clickable. Blow out all 3 to open your letter!

My dearest Jewel,

Another year of you; and what a year it has been! You made it, finally bought your own home in Scotland! Despite all the bad weathers day, tiring locums, painful periods, you always find a way to push through! You walk into the gym and move mountains. And somehow, in between all of that, we found each other.

I'm writing this from Hong Kong, late at night, with my thesis one step closer to done, and my heart thousands of miles away; exactly where you are. I haven't found my job in Scotland yet, and I won't pretend that doesn't scare me sometimes. But then I remember who I'm doing it for, and I remember that you are waiting for me. I'll get there. We'll get there.

Because here's the thing about loving you: you make me believe that a life I can't fully picture yet is worth building. You are strong and soft, fierce and gentle. You helped strangers and you forgive my terrible attempts at jokes. Scotland is lucky to have you as a pharmacist, and I am the luckiest person to have found you there.

So today, on your birthday, I make you a promise: the next one we'll celebrate together. Until then, make a wish for our future!

Yours, across every mile
— Stefan
